Throughout his career, Mr. Garza has demonstrated proven success in both Texas public school districts and public charter school programs. He has played a key role in transforming struggling campuses by improving academic achievement, strengthening school culture, and implementing effective behavior systems that promote student success.
Known for his high-energy leadership style and student-centered approach, Mr. Garza is passionate about developing educators, building strong school communities, and creating environments where students and staff can thrive. His leadership is rooted in collaboration, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Outside of education, Mr. Garza values living a balanced life. He is a professional disc golfer, a professional trumpet player, and most importantly, enjoys spending quality time with his daughter, who inspires him to maintain balance and purpose in both his personal and professional life.

Ms. McHugh began her educational journey as a student teacher and has dedicated more than two decades to serving and leading at her previous campus. Throughout her career, she has held a variety of impactful roles, including classroom teacher, Gifted and Talented Coach, Assistant Principal for nine years, and Principal for one year. These experiences have shaped her belief that student success is built on strong relationships and meaningful partnerships among families, educators, and the community.
While she is grateful for the many professional connections and experiences that have enriched her career, Ms. McHugh is thrilled to begin this new chapter at Miller’s Point Elementary. She looks forward to building relationships with the students, families, and staff who make Miller's Point a special place. Guided by collaboration, trust, and a shared commitment to excellence, she is eager to lead the school in embracing this year’s theme, “Soaring to Success.” Together, the Miller’s Point community will inspire students to reach new heights academically, socially, and emotionally.
Ms. McHugh is proud to join the Miller’s Point family and looks forward to an outstanding school year filled with growth, achievement, and success for all.
